The first unit of Physical Science deals with states of matter and the relationship between the kinetic and thermal energies of the particles in each state. Per the district-provided curriculum, we began the unit talking about cups and how/why some cups are able to maintain the temperature of their contents longer than others.

After teaching this unit to one class during the first semester, I knew I needed a better and more engaging final project for the unit the second time around.

In order to bring the unit full circle, I decided to have the students create advertisements for the popular water bottle - Hydro Flask. Students were challenged with a short set of criteria for their advertisement, and provided with a very "bare bones" slide on which. to create their ad.

In the folder below, you will find the lessons for the introduction and working days for the project. The slides were created using the Pear Deck add-on for Google Slides, which makes the slides interactive for the students and gives the teacher real time data on student understanding and engagement.
